Strongly support Lapointe for reelection

We write in strong support for the reelection of George Lapointe as mayor for the city of Hallowell. We have found him to be an effective, collaborative leader who is very approachable and non-judgmental. He has shown an ability to manage open and sometimes contentious meetings providing fair and equal opportunity to hear all sides. This is a very valuable skill during our polarized times.

We also appreciate George’s commitment to environmental policies as evidenced by his willingness to chair the subcommittee that worked out the controversial new pesticide control ordinance recently enacted by the City Council.

He and his wife, Hilary, have been particularly committed to improving Granite City Park. They have faithfully volunteered for hard work to eradicate a jungle of knotweed that was taking over the park, and to plant native trees and shrubs to attract pollinators and protect the shore of the Kennebec River from erosion.
